Week 8: Assignment #2: wordle or tagxedo

For our last class (yea!) on Feb 7th we will watch a movie (to be determined later). My last class watched Stand and Deliver but several other movies would work just as well. We will watch the movie and then discuss it in light of what we have learned in this course. To assist with that, I would like you to make either a wordle or tagxedo using at least 12 key terms from the chapters in the text. You don't have to send it to me, but bring it to class on Feb 7th so you can refer to it during the discussion. That's it for this week. Use the rest of your time to work on those assignments.

Week #8 Assignment 1: School Action Plan Discussion

This purpose of this assignment is to get you thinking about your school action plan. Several of you have told me about your good ideas already. Now I'd like you to share your ideas with your classmates, and maybe use this blog to recruit teammates for your paper.:) For example- "Hey Susie- I was thinking about the same plan for my school. Do you want to work together?" Post one original thought about your progress so far, your ideas, your lack of ideas, etc. and then respond to someone else's post, encouraging them in their endeavors for a total of 2 posts. Due date for this is before class on Jan 31.

Week 7 Assignment #2: America By The Numbers with Maria Hinojosa: Clarkston Georgia

Although Clarkston, GA is nearby, it can feel like you've traveled thousands of miles to get there because the culture is so diverse. Your next assignment is to watch this program and then analyze the Clarkston community using the community formulas described on page 81 and 82 of your text. How would you categorize the Clarkston community? Your school community? Post a paragraph to complete this assignment.

Week 7 Assignment #1 (due Jan 24)

Chapter 4 in our text discussed learning styles and learning style inventories. Find a learning style inventory of your choice and complete it. Post a paragraph about your findings and consider the following: Do you think the results are accurate? Why/why not? Do you think your learning style is influenced by culture? Do you think you tend to teach using your preferred learning style? What learning style do you guess most of your students are? Would you or have you ever given your students a learning style inventory? Would you recommend it? or Would you be willing to try it?
